Just a few days ago, UNESCO voted to elect their next Director General to replace the current exiting Director, Bulgarian Irina Bokova. At the end of the process, it came down to two candidates: One from Qatar and one from France. The favorite was Qatari candidate Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, but he lost to French candidate Audrey Azoulay (30-28.) The UNESCO Director General’s position is a 5-year term , open to a second term.
UNESCO is an acronym for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Of the 195 countries members of UNESCO, 60 are either Muslim countries, members of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), or observer members of the OIC. This constitutes almost a third of of the countries part of UNESCO. The fact that UNESCO has a strong anti-Israel bias cannot be denied and its strong Muslim membership might be a factor but it isn’t the ONLY factor. Many other countries represented, also have very strong anti-Semitic sentiment against Israel. The result has been a plethora of resolutions against Israel over the years.
in 2011, UNESCO officially recognized Palestine (107/14) and added the “new state” to its roster. Immediately after, the United States pulled its funding. Then, in 2016 UNESCO declared that the Temple Mount/Western Wall in Jerusalem had no Jewish connection and called it by its Arabic name, thus stripping it from all Jewish identity and opening the door for more violence between Palestinians and Israelis. Continuing on its campaign to delegitimize everything Jewish, UNESCO recently declared that Jerusalem had no right to be the capital of Israel. The vote took place on Israel Independence Day, making one wonder if the date was selected to further humiliate Israel.
The day before the vote to elect the new director, the United States expressed their decision to leave UNESCO over their flagrant anti-Israel bias. Within hours, Israel followed suit declaring that electing French AND Jewish candidate Audrey Azoulay was not enough to keep Israel as a member.
The United States, under the leadership of Donald Trump have been very vocal about their support of Israel. The electing of Nikki Haley has the US ambassador the United Nations has already yielded some amazing changes in favor of Israel. So it is clear that agencies such as the UN or UNESCO can be reformed in favor of a more balanced outlook on world affairs– something they were both started for. What Audrey Azoulay will accomplish as new Director General of UNESCO is yet unclear, but time will tell.
Miss Azoulay served as Minister of Culture (2016-17) in the François Hollande Socialist government. She arrives at a critical time for UNESCO and will have an uphill battle to restore credibility to an agency that has seen its integrity erode over the last decade. But the departure of both Israel and the US–outside of a great loss of financial contributions–might make matters worse for Israel. Two major voices of reason are lost in a community that clearly shows bold animosity against Israel. Miss Azoulay’s challenge will be to ensure that the remaining members will not continue to re-write history “sans Israel.” Her Jewish family heritage gives her an appearance of credibility, but it will be a long road to restore UNESCO’s credibility, at least among those who don’t try to re-write history.
As I see it, UNESCO is part of the global libel against Israel, easily pushed forward by an anti-Semitic community and even more easily accepted by many uneducated masses who couldn’t care less about authentic history.
Failed Multiculturalism Will lead to Rigid Monoculturalism!
One of the biggest buzzwords of the twenty-first century is “multiculturalism.” It actually defines one’s tolerance level for other cultures– the trait of a good, compliant postmodern citizen. The more we tolerate other cultures, the better! In essence, there is nothing wrong with such an approach. I grew-up in France where I had Arab, Vietnamese and African friends all throughout my childhood, and nobody thought anything of it . In the 60s and 70s, various cultures were kept in the home and/or respective places of worship, and adherence to a country’s laws were the norm when outside the home and/or communal life. That was what we can call successful multiculturalism. Those days are long gone!
To an extent, various cultures are still able to truly co-exist within the same country. Yet there is a dominant culture, or more accurately a dominant “ideology” that doesn’t play well with others, and that is the Muslim ideology. I say ideology because there is not doubt in the mind of those who look at Islam, that it is much more than a religion. It is an ideology that includes a religion, a financial system, a legal system and much more. In other words, Islam is a way of life! We all have the right to choose which way we want to go through life and if one wants to do it as a Muslim, it is their personal choice. I happen to have chosen a different path that includes Judeo/Christian ethics and a belief system based on the teachings of the Bible (Old and New Testament.)
I like my way of life as a disciple of Yeshua and I wish that more people would adhere to it and be as blessed as I am, yet I would never impose it on anyone because it would then instantly become legalism. My Jewish people have been the victims of legalism for centuries. Forced conversions, forced baptism and other Christian dogmatic indoctrinations have driven a wedge between Christians and Jews and led to a plethora of bloody massacres over the ages. People should always be given a choice not an order when it comes to culture, customs and beliefs. After all this is why the United Nations came up with the “Declaration Universelle des Droits de l’homme.” in 1948 (Universal Declaration of Human Rights.)
In Article 2 of the UDHR, we read “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.” When this is applied properly, we have multiculturalism at its best. It protects world citizens wherever they come from and wherever they live. But in the last few decades, these principles have been abused and used against the very people who tried so hard to uphold them. What more? Under the very eyes of modern Western countries that once were thriving democracies. The ideology of Islam taken to its radical fringes is very far from what people try so hard to call the “Religion of Peace.” It demands multiculturalism in a world still willing to provide it, but is it really in the name of tolerance, co-existence and mutual acceptance?
Many European countries that once promoted free speech, freedom of religion and freedom of the press, are self-inflicting a series of restrictions in the hope that they will appease the ire of radical Islam. Western civilization’s self-inflicted multiculturalism has failed greatly and is leading only to one thing; a rigid brand of “monoculturalism.” In many cases including in the United-States, people either do not understand Sharia Law or fear reprisals for speaking negatively about it. In a 2016 article in the Washington Post, titled “Five myths about sharia”, the reader is told that :
1. Sharia isn’t “Islamic law.”
2. In Muslim countries, Sharia isn’t the law of the land.
3. Sharia isn’t anti-women
4. Sharia doesn’t demand brutal punishments
5. Sharia isn’t about conquest
I find this very hard to believe when the West has been witnessing the treatment of Jews, Christians, women and gays under Sharia. But again, if Muslim communities choose to live by Sharia standards, it is their choice according to the same Article 2 of the UDHR, and they shouldn’t be ostracized, harassed or persecuted for it. Where we are going wrong is when we extend our over-tolerant multiculturalism to let one particular ideology dominate the rest of the world. If we do not rectify our course, I am convinced that our failed multiculturalism will lead to rigid monoculturalism! From what we have seen, Islam isn’t necessarily the path to freedom. In many cases, it looks more like a theocratic dictatorship. Choose Islam if you will, but please do not choose it or any other ideology for me. I have chosen to be a Jew who follows his Messiah (Yeshua of Nazareth), and while I wish more people would investigate his claims and the simple message of salvation (Psalm 16:11; 36:7-10, Genesis 2:17; Ecclesiastes 7:20, Jeremiah 17:9, Ezekiel 18:4, Jeremiah 2:22, Psalm 49:7, Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12, Genesis 15:6, Habakkuk 2:4, Proverbs 28:13). After all, it should still be about personal choices!
Antisemitism in 2016: A Year in Review (Part II)
July 2016: Holocaust Memory: What Would Elie Wiesel Do?
Elie Wiesel passed away on July 2nd, 2016 at the age of 87. In a sense, the passing of this giant is the silencing of one man who chose to perpetuate Holocaust memory in any way he could. He leaves behind him 57 books, too numerous to list or recommend here except maybe for his death camps Memoir Night, written in 1960. To Wiesel who received the Nobel Peace prize in 1986, much remained to be accomplished to remember the past and alleviate a similar future.
To him, apathy or indifference was one the worst evil in the world. That is exactly why he spent the bulk of his life educating a world in shock that later morphed into a numb world to eventually become the postmodern world in denial that it currently is. He once said “I decided to devote my life to telling the story because I felt that having survived I owe something to the dead and anyone who does not remember betrays them again.” He had always felt guilty of not being able to do more for his dad during their imprisonment in the camps.
He leaves us with a tremendous challenge. We must continue his fight. If we remain silent, his voice will fade away into oblivion or worse, get relegated to a couple of statements about an event that many are already starting to doubt or deny. To honor the memory of Elie Wiesel is more than appropriate, but to remember the Holocaust is vital to the survival of Western civilization. As a matter of fact, to remember the Holocaust and teach it to the next generation IS to honor the memory of Elie Wiesel.
August 2016: Does World Vision’s Entanglement with Hamas show Naiveté or Malice?
World Vision International (WVI) humanitarian work has become the hallmark of Christian love and aid over the decades, so much that their yearly revenue nears $3 billion. Their published mission statement says “World Vision is an international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek justice, and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdom of God.”
In August 2016, Israel’s internal security service accused WV Gaza office manager, Mohammed El Halabi of using up to $50 millions of charity funds to pay Hamas fighters, build tunnels and buy weapons. He was arrested in June and detained for fifty days before the accusation was made public. The Shin Bet claims to have more than sufficient proof that will be produced in court. Consider a few more facts about World Vision:
• When the Palestinian movie “With God on Our Side” came out in 2010, It was endorsed by World Vision VP, Steven W. Haas. His endorsement read “I dare anyone to see this film and remain unchanged.”
• On the World Vision website, all the countries helped by the organization are listed. While Palestine and/or Israel are not listed by names, “Jerusalem/West Bank/Gaza are listed. They made a clear choice in their labelling.
• in 2007, World Vision International, which by all standards is NOT A CHURCH, decided to change its fiscal status to a “Church Status” enabling them to no longer file the IRS form 990s. By changing their status to a church, they limit the amount of financial information they have to share. All these elements related to the reputation of WVI give us a picture of a shady organization with less integrity that they would like us to believe they have.
September 2016: Go ahead, build a security wall…Unless of course you are Israel!
Most people have heard about the Great Wall of China, started in the 7th century AD and continued for almost 1,000 years. It was built to originally protect China from repeated Eurasian invasions and continued to be used for border control over the centuries. It measures over 13,000 miles. A much smaller wall is currently being erected in the northwest part of France in the town of Calais. It has already been dubbed “The Great Wall of Calais.” Of course, Israel has been working on their security fence/wall for several years since 2003 and hundreds of lives have already been saved because of the fence. It has been a very difficult diplomatic and political battle for Israel, constantly accused of being an “Apartheid State.” Comparing Israel to South Africa is far from honest since Apartheid in South Africa was based on racial tension and falsely assumed elitism, while Israel has been building its wall solely for security reasons.
The double-standard used regarding the building of walls (including the recent one started by Saudi Arabia to also protect itself from ISIS terrorists) is upholding. France and England build a wall to protect themselves from illegal migrants who most likely include sleeper ISIS members, and that’s OK! Saudi Arabia builds a 600 miles wall to keep ISIS out, and that’s OK! So why is Israel building a wall to keep terrorists out considered to be a human rights violation?
October 2016: When fighting antisemitism, it is never too little or too late!
While they have the same source, roots and much of the same history, Christianity and Judaism have been at odds for as long as man can remember. Many of the Church Fathers such as Justin Martyr, Chrysostom, Augustine and others set the stage for Christianity to alienate Judaism by reinterpreting the Bible. Slowly, laws were passed and enforced. Jewish life became hard and often near impossible, but against all odds and because of God’s grace, the Jewish people are still here today. In spite of the Middle Ages Blood Libel, the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Pogroms and the Holocaust, we are still standing. Christianity has had a difficult relationship with the Jewish people, so much so that the default mechanism for most Jewish people today is to believe that all Christians are antisemitic. That is why, whenever a Christian figure makes a repentant statement in favor of the Jewish people, it should be noted.
The 105th Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby made such a statement. He recently stated “The fact that antisemitism has infected the body of the Church is something of which we as Christians must be deeply repentant.” This would appear to be a simple statement, but it isn’t. Welby wrote a powerful piece titled “Vigilance and resolution: Living antidotes to an ancient virus.” in which he says “It is a shameful truth that, through its theological teachings, the church, which should have offered an antidote, compounded the spread of this virus.” Welby appears to be trying to bridge the gap between Christians and Jews. The simplest antidote to antisemitism can be found on the pages of the entire Bible. Many of its readers have re-interpreted it to exclude and even damn the Jews and Israel. Maybe I am hopelessly optimistic, but Welby’s words could help in preventing further damage in Judeo/Christian relations. We certainly could use a little respite.
November 2016: Unprecedented Rise in Anti-Semitism Confirmed at ADL Summit in New York!
The Anti-Defamation League’s current CEO, Jonathan Greenblatt said at the opening of their first summit on antisemitism on November 17, 2016 in Manhattan: “ADL had never before convened a summit like this on anti-Semitism. This is a first. ….And yet, today, I think all of us fear that something has changed. There are troubling signs. Now they may be subtle, they may go unnoticed by the vast majority of Americans, but we see them. We know…the American Jewish community has not seen this level of anti-Semitism in mainstream political and public discourse since the 1930s.” This is what I brought back from attending such a powerful summit:
• American Jews are worried about their future.
The elections brought out a vast amount of anti-Jewish sentiment expressed in the media with probably the most of it coming from social media. Like one speakers said “if it happens on Twitter, it could very well transfer into real life events.”
• Criticism of Israel is different from demonization.
Nobody fights the idea that Israel can be criticized for certain decisions that its government makes or has made. But criticism is very different from demonization. Natan Sharansky reminded us of the real danger facing us today as he spoke of the three Ds against Israel he so eloquently defined years ago: Delegitimization, double-standards and demonization.
• Our greatest threat might come from American Universities.
US campuses are where the next generation of American leaders are being molded and mentored. Regardless of your political inclination, it is an accepted fact that most US campuses are very liberal and the radical Left BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanction) movement is spreading like wildfire on American campuses. This is a battleground that cannot be ignored, but to the dismay of most of the speakers, Jewish students on various campuses are too often poorly equipped at best and uninformed at worst, to fight BDS.
• The time to act is NOW!
While the focus of the summit was on how to fight anti-Semitism, other minorities were represented throughout the day. The reason is rather obvious; those who oppose and harass Jewish people will seldom stop there. Bigotry is always an equal opportunity hater.
I applaud the ADL for its efforts, and I encourage all of you who read me to be more vocal and more involved because NEVER IS NOW and to quote Mr. Greenblatt one last time: “We need to educate where we can, oppose where we must, and lock arms with those who embrace our mission.”
December 2016: Battles against ISIS can be won, but what about the war?
Not a week goes by anymore without the world being affected by radical Islam. The latest victim of this barbaric, medieval ideology, was Berlin, Germany. In a scenario similar to the one that took place in Nice, France on July 14, 2016, a terrorist drove a truck through a crowded Christmas market, killing 12 and wounding 49. Anis Amri, the Tunisian immigrant who attacked the Christmas market was caught and shot as he was on the run in Italy. He had sought asylum in Germany a few years ago but was denied because of possible ties with radical Islam. Just days prior, Andrey Karlov, the Russian Ambassador in Turkey, was shot seven times in public in Ankara, while the Turkish shooter screamed Allahu Akbar (God is great) in Arabic, followed by “Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria! Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria!”
The Islamic State seems to be the ideological thread between these violent murders across the planet.
• The Islamic State murders: They will kill in many ways using men, women AND children to further their agenda of death as they seek Islamic bliss in paradise by killing more infidels. The culture of death that drives ISIS seems unstoppable against a world that values and respect life.
• The Islamic State infiltrates: The Russian Ambassador’s shooter had a connection to ISIS. The November 2015 Bataclan massacre in Paris was facilitated by the migrant crisis ebb and flow throughout Europe. At least one of the protagonists came to Paris through that venue and they will continue to do so all over the world until better vetting systems are in place.
• The Islamic State recruits: For reasons that remain hard to figure out, they also have been rather successful at recruiting Westerners. This makes profiling much more complicated. Social media has also been a very fruitful platform for radical Islam recruiting.
• The Islamic State inspires: But the most dangerous aspect of the Islamic State is the fact that even outside of infiltrating or recruiting, they inspire! Their apocalyptic ideology of death is inspiring people to act on their behalf even without having been trained in Syria or elsewhere.
The old optimistic adage of “losing the battle but winning the war” has been reversed for our generation. I am convinced that we will successfully win many battles against Islamic terrorism but we might never win the war!
In conclusion, the Jewish people continue to be seen by many as the guilty people, responsible for many of the ills of the world, far beyond the “disputed territories and/or the settlements as the United Nations, Mr. Obama and Mr. Kerry seemed to believe in the last days of 2016. While there is much unknown with the coming new US administration and the upcoming French and German elections, the Jewish people will most likely continue to be the scapegoats of humanity. 2016 wasn’t the worst year for Jewish people, but then again, a good day for the global Jewish community is seldom measured on how good it was but rather on how bad it could have been. You can call me a fatalist but based on my work of the last 17 years, I prefer to call myself a realist.
Could UNESCO’s vote Justify a Third Intifada?
In a series of moves that clearly indicate contempt for both Christianity and Judaism, UNESCO voted to erase all Jewish connection from the Temple Mount. The decision didn’t happen in a vacuum as UNESCO has a history of anti-Israel bias, but the latest move against the holiest Jewish site will have serious ramifications.
I could spend time presenting a series of evidence for a Jewish Temple and Temple Mount from the Bible, archeology and even secular history (including some from the Muslim side). The proof would do little to convince those who already know that Temple and its surroundings were and still are Jewish sites, and it would do absolutely nothing to change the mind of those who have delegitimized it.
Re-writing history has been elevated to an “art form” by the Palestinian Authority and its cronies. It has taken about fifty years for the Palestinian narrative to become undisputed truth, but Yasir Arafat, the father of “Palestinian Self-Determination” would be very proud of the work of his successors since his death in 2004.
The first thing that we must realize is that the re-labelling of the Temple mount really has nothing to do with any new historical evidence or artifacts recently discovered. If that was a fact, an even stronger case could be made for the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount. In reality, UNESCO most likely doesn’t care much about the Palestinian connection–or lack of–to the Jewish site. UNESCO is mostly interested in whatever can be done to delegitimize Israel’s connection to the land, whatever the cost, whatever the lies and whatever the consequences.
Several consequences will be felt by this recent vote. They could affect Israel in particular, Jewish people at large and even Christians and Westerners in general. We shouldn’t underestimate what just took place.
The world is increasingly turning its back on Israel (Joel 3:1-2, Zechariah 12:1-3; 14:2, Daniel 12:1). While this shouldn’t be a surprise to those who value biblical truth and the prophetic passages of the Tanach (Jewish Bible), this is very upsetting. Outside of Egypt and Jordan, the whole Middle-East is pretty much at war with the Jewish State. To my surprise, even Jordan (joining the Palestinian Authority), was behind the agenda for promoting such a nonsensical vote. This is very telling at a time when so few countries support Israel, for Jordan to be somewhat of a backstabber.
But the UNESCO vote was not only telling by those who promoted its agenda and those who voted in favor (24 Yes/4 No). It was even more telling because of the 26 countries that abstained. Was it too political of a vote–as it should be– or was it simply that they didn’t want to be caught in the middle of a crossfire between Israel and her enemies. The resulting apathy is equally appalling. Generally speaking, the world has been suffering from “Middle East Fatigue” for a while now, so when UNESCO pretty much voted Israel off the map, the vast majority of the world yawned and changed the channel.
The more pressing issue is the validation of the Palestinian agenda in connection with the Temple mount and it incessant Jewish presence. Palestinians now have UNESCO on their side, as they justify more violence in a possible near future. Who could disagree with pushing Israel the “occupier” off a Palestinian holy site? I am talking about a possible Third Intifada. If that indeed takes place, Jewish blood would end up on the hands of UNESCO, but do they even care?
The few remaining friends of Israel, individually and corporately should be very vocal about this latest turn of events. Not because it happened, since I am convinced more will take place to delegitimize and demonize Israel. We should be vocal because nobody else is. If nothing else, if you want to join me and sleep well at night without the guilt of looking the other way while Israel and the Jews are again being singled out, then speak up please.
Israel always had God on her side. The same God who allowed for the Jewish Temple to be built by Solomon (1 Kings 6, 2 Chronicles 3, Psalm 134. 138, 146-150) and allowed for it to be remodeled and rebuilt under Herod the Great, will protect Israel from destruction (Jeremiah 31:35-37.) He is also the God who will judge the heart of those within UNESCO who repeatedly throw Israel under the bus.
This vote had absolutely nothing to do with world heritage preservation and everything to do with an antisemitic agenda cloaked in Education, Science and Culture (the E.S.C of UNESCO.) Will the world yawn again if the Palestinians start a third Intifada? Of course not…They will blame the Jews for it. After all, don’t the Jews occupy Palestinian soil and usurp a Palestinian holy site for their colonizing purpose? If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn, but you better stand in line because you are not the only potential buyer!
Don’t ban the kippah, but let’s think twice before wearing it!
It was an outrage but not much of a surprise when French extreme right Front National leader Marine Le Pen announced this week that France should pass a law to ban the wearing of the kippah (Jewish skullcap.) In her defense, her position on the wearing of religious symbols doesn’t only include the kippah. She is also in favor of banning the hijab and veils. France did pass a law in 2011 to ban the burqua and hijab in public. It is also unlawful to wear a kippah or burqua on public school property. Additionally, the recent attempt by some French mayors at banning the wearing “burkinis” on French beaches was also very controversial.
Miss Le Pen says that she speaks in the name of equality. She claims that to be fair, if the Muslim covering is banned, the Jewish covering must be banned as well. She also says that she has no issue with kippot but that we must be “fair” by banning both. One can appreciate Miss Le Pen’s apparent desire to be balanced, but I don’t think that her comparison between Muslim and Jewish religious symbol is a fair assessment of the problem at hand. Marine Le Pen still carries with her some of her father’s racist and antisemitic baggage. It has been rebranded in a postmodern, social justice infused package, but it is still racism. Additionally, there are valid reasons to ban some of the most extreme Muslim garb.
Needless to say that the reaction from the French government was quite negative, across the whole political spectrum. The Jewish community also reacted very strongly. Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt (head of the Conference of European Rabbis) said that Le Pen’s proposal, “takes us straight back to the times of state-sponsored anti-Semitism under the Vichy regime.” I couldn’t agree more!
Yet, Le Pen is experiencing a bittersweet relationship with some of the French Jewish community. Some Jewish people are actually considering voting for her in the next presidential elections. The wave of migrants into France and much of Europe as well as France’s Muslim community–the largest in Europe with between 6 and 7 million–are making French Jews feeling increasingly insecure. Charlie Hebdo, the Kosher Market and the Bataclan Club are just a few examples of the frailty of France when it comes to protect her citizens, let alone her Jewish community. But Le Pen is a political time bomb that could detonate onto the Jewish community in ways that nobody would have expected prior to the elections. French Jews have no business even considering Le Pen in the next presidential elections.
Her desire to pas a law to ban the kippah is in line with her party’s xenophobic tendencies and should be denounced. This being said, and the kippah remaining a choice for each and every Jew to wear in public, we should exercise caution. The French government has recently advised religious Jews not to wear a kippah in public or to cover it with another hat, and that is very wise. It is sad to have to hide religious symbols, but there are areas of Paris and other large French cities like Marseille where wearing a kippah is simply dangerous.
In the current France of 2016, the reality is that the Jewish community is shrinking. Aliyah to Israel was the highest in 30 years in 2014 and 2015. French Jews are scared to go out in some areas, or even to walk to synagogue or Jewish schools. Their fears are very justified. France lost about 50,000 Jews to Israel in the last 16 years. That is about 10% of the total 500,000 Jews of France (still the third largest Jewish community after Israel and the USA.) At this rate, France will lose its Jewish community and its third place in world Jewry within less than 20 years.
The banning of the Muslim head garb never was as result of Islamophobia. While there might be some people who hate Muslims and/or Arabs (and I am not one of them), the honest reason behind the banning of Muslim religious symbols was and continues to be security. Proper identification cannot be performed if one’s head is entirely covered. If the Muslim community feels unjustifiably targeted, maybe they should bring their grievances to the imams and radical Islamic leaders who support and promote radical apocalyptic Islam. Islam’s reputation has definitely been stained by Islamic terrorism and the Islamic State. But please do not put the veils and the kippot on equal footing!
If Miss Le Pen was truly a proponent of the French “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” motto, she would leave the kippah alone and allow Jews to use common sense in wearing it in public. I am afraid that the France she seeks is a France without Arabs, without blacks and without Jews. This would indeed look like “Vichy Regime 2.0” Even if the current government strongly rebuked Miss Le Pen, it remains to be seen if the rest of more liberal and humanistic France will brush her off as a xenophobic fringe politician or if they will carry her further in a position of power. French Jews have enough on their plate as it stands!
