Just Another Day in the Age of Pandemics!

Let’s start by looking at a simple definition of the word “pandemic”. According to the Mirriam-Webster dictionary, pandemic means:  “occurring over a wide geographic area (such as multiple countries or continents) and typically affecting a significant proportion of the population.” The idea is that a pandemic is an epidemic that spreads fast and wide, often out of control for a while and decimating large segments of the population. So yes, Covid-19 definitely qualifies as a pandemic, much like the 1918 Spanish flu was. It has now been one year since we officially started to fight our twenty-first-century pandemic. Who knew that two weeks would turn into 52 weeks, with no real sign of complete eradication at this time. So, we fight, we adjust, we comply and we hope for the best. This seems to be the “current normal”, not the “new normal” because if we look at the last twelve months, “new normal” emerged at a pace that has been difficult to follow. We have had to get used to an ever-evolving sense of “new normal”.

Interestingly enough, Covid-19 has been linked to the Jewish people in more ways than one, and none of them in a good way. Many will claim that the accusations against Israel and the Jewish people, related to Covid-19, are simply ludicrous and unfounded. I agree with that statement, but nonetheless, the accusations abound and those believing them are not necessarily a minority. The truth is, that Israel is at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19 and probably is the country that has vaccinated the largest number of its citizens, but let us not allow the facts to stop Israel’s foes from spreading rumors, blood libels and false accusations.

• 20% of all English people believe that Jews created Covid-19:As people were surveyed, according to The Oxford Coronavirus Explanations, Attitudes, and Narratives Survey (OCEANS), “Presented with the statement “Jews have created the virus to collapse the economy for financial gain,” 5.3% of the interviewees “agreed a little,” 6.8% “agreed moderately,” 4.6% “agreed a lot,” and 2.4% “agreed completely,” while some 80.8% did not agree with it at all.”
•
People accuse the Jews of using the vaccine to control the world population: The CEO of Pfizer, Albert Bourla, is a Greek man of Jewish ancestry. This is enough for crazy conspiracy theorists to claim that the Jews created the vaccine and will use it to streamline the world population and control the world. This is in line with the same theories advanced in 1904 in the hoax “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”.
• Vaccination is compared to Auschwitz policies: Piers Corbyn (brother of antisemitic Labour Party member Jeremy Corbyn) produced and distributed a leaflet equating the use of the vaccine to entry into Auschwitz-Birkenau by changing the entry gate sign “Arbeit Macht Frei” (work makes you free) to “Vaccines are the safe path to freedom”. Using what happened to Jews during the Holocaust as fuel to motivate anti-vaxxers is morally despicable.
• Ohio men accuse Jews of being the real plague: During a street protest in Columbus, Ohio against Covid-19 restrictions, two men displayed a sign of a rat looking like a Jew with an Israeli flag. The sign also said: “the real plague”. This is strongly reminiscent of the accusations against the Jewish community during the Black Plague of 1348-51 when Jews were accused of poisoning the wells of Europe simply because of the smaller number of Jewish casualties due to kosher laws and liturgical hygiene.
• Social networks abound with antisemitic memes about the Jews either being or controlling the virus: Vicious attacks on Jewish people and on Israel are everywhere on social networks and most of them are not being censored because of the First Amendment. I am all for claiming Freedom of Speech as long as we are consistent and do not allow for double standards.   Unfortunately, this is far from being the case.
• Rashida Tlaib claims that Israel doesn’t vaccinate Palestinians: She tweeted, “It’s really important to understand that Israel is a racist state, in that they would deny Palestinians like my grandmother access to a vaccine, that they don’t believe she’s an equal human being who deserves to live.” The opposite is true. Israel has offered vaccines to Palestinians and many have accepted them. The Palestinian Authority also refused a recent planeload of vaccines from the United Arab Emirates, simply because it was coordinated with Israel for distribution.
• Saturday Night Live comedian claims Israel only vaccinates Jews: On February 20, SNL host Michael Che said: “Israel is reporting that they’ve vaccinated half of their population, and I’m gonna guess it’s the Jewish half.” It really looks like using the blood libel to demonize the Jewish people is still in fashion. Incidentally, Michael Che has repeatedly insulted Jewish people before, but he is very careful not to denigrate other minorities. Entertainers have been fired for less than this. SNL used to be a funny satirical comedy show, but that ship sailed a long time ago.

I could keep going and show more examples of the same nature, but I think that the case is made. While the world is busy fighting a pandemic, it is also ignoring another one. The new antisemitism is a virus of pandemic proportions. Why is it being ignored by so many? Probably because people don’t feel that it concerns them since they are not really affected by it. Many people might not be antisemitic per se, and as a result, they don’t feel that they are responsible to do anything. At first glance, there seems to be no vaccine against the virus of antisemitism. People simply carry the antibodies, or they don’t. People of goodwill–Christian or not– will identify the hatred of antisemitism and will expose it and fight, because to them it is the most natural thing to do. In a sense, they are the ones who naturally carry the antibodies against antisemitism in all its forms.

Then, you have those who might not be antisemitic by commission. They would never accuse the Jews of manufacturing a virus or monetizing a vaccine for ulterior motives. Yet, as they remain unaware or uninterested in the anti-Jewish tropes propagated by antisemites, they softly contribute to the problem. We live in a world where we can no longer sit on the fence and go about our simple lives without getting involved. We ought to speak-up against hatred any chance we have.

However, what if there was a vaccine, or better yet – a real cure against the pandemic of antisemitism? What if there was a way to look at the world that would not allow for hatred, racism, or antisemitism? Well, I believe that there is a way for us to interact with one another with civility and respect. That way is found by those who place their trust in the finished work of Yeshua the Messiah. Now, I know that some people will accuse me of bias or blindness when I say that Christianity is the only safe worldview for treating people equally, fairly and ethically. After all, isn’t the New Testament antisemitic? Isn’t it where we read about the synagogue of Satan? Sure it is, but in context, it isn’t even speaking of Jewish people! But, hey, if we can find a verse associating the Jewish place of worship and the devil, we’re in great shape to demonize the Jews and claim full immunity under the guise of the Christian banner.

This certainly does a great disservice to true Bible-believing followers of Yeshua and His teachings. If we believe the word of God to be true, and we should, then, the Jewish people are truly painted in different light throughout all of scripture.  We are described as: The apple of God’s eye (Zechariah 2:8), daughter of Zion (Zephaniah 3:14), God’s chosen people (1 Kings 3:8), a treasured possession (Deuteronomy 7:6), a holy people (Deuteronomy 7:6), God’s hidden ones (Psalm 83:3), a great nation (Genesis 12:2) and beloved (Romans 11:28).

When asked about the greatest of all commandments by his Jewish audience (and there are 613 in the Mosaic Law), Yeshua responded with those powerful words, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

The fact that many people have hijacked, and corrupted Christianity doesn’t disqualify the claims of Yeshua and the validity of the faith. We are indeed together in our unprecedented fight against the current pandemic of Covid-19, but sadly there is plenty of room for improvement for a concerted fight against the oldest, long-lasting pandemic of antisemitism.

The Danger of Antisemitism by Omission!

Too often, people have a propensity to ignore issues if they feel that they are not directly concerned or if the issues are far enough from them geographically or otherwise. People might think, ” the riots and protests are not my neighborhood, so I am ok!” or ” the fires are not putting my house in danger, they are too far, we are safe.” Unfortunately, apathy can be part of human nature to the point where we ignore the obvious if the obvious doesn’t affect us at a critical level.  At least critical to us.

So, many people will reason with themselves and think, “I am NOT antisemitic, but  I am also NOT Jewish!” People will quickly claim that they don’t hate the Jews, that they don’t wish them any harm at all. They will also agree that antisemitism is wrong, and yet they will not hesitate to look the other way when acts of antisemitism are committed. Hurting Jewish people directly, verbally, or physically is antisemitism by commission while ignoring their troubles is antisemitism by omission. They are both wrong!

In the early 1940s, Maurice Weinzveig, my Russian maternal grandfather was hiding in the cellar of our Paris residence. He knew that Paris had become very dangerous for a Jew without naturalization papers. He had to keep quiet and hidden for a while to protect his life and that of his wife and daughter (my mother.) Unbeknownst to Maurice, a gentile neighbor who worked for the French police and who was secretly in love with my grandmother, wanted to get rid of her husband, “the Jew.” He called the Gestapo and let them know that there was a Jew hiding in his building. They came, they took him, they sent him to Auschwitz, and he perished in the smokestacks of the Nazi factory of death.

When the Gestapo showed up at our residence, the guilty neighbor stayed home behind closed doors. Incidentally, he lived long enough so that I would meet him as a young kid. Nobody could prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that he had called the Gestapo, but the whole building knew that it was him, so he never paid for his crimes. He even had me sit on his lap a few times as a little boy. I get chills down my spine when I recall those moments. He was guilty of antisemitism by commission.

But what about the numerous neighbors in the same building who witnessed all the raucous movement up and down their building? They chose to remain silent, discreetly observing behind the privacy of their window blinders, as if they couldn’t do one thing to prevent the two Gestapo officers from apprehending my grandfather. Some feared for their lives and that of their own families; others felt powerless against the Nazi regime. How many were thinking, “I am not Jewish; this is none of my business?” Hard to say.  The truth is that they became apathetic bystanders, and a bystander who does nothing only facilitates the crimes of the perpetrator. See something and say or do nothing… and that my friend, is antisemitism by omission.

So, how does that concept translate to 2020 and the current multifaceted crisis that we are all in? In other words, what does this have to do with the virus, the riots, the economy, or any other crises we are dealing with as a society?  Once again, and very sadly, the thread is Israel and the Jews:

Covid-19: The Jewish people have been accused of creating, causing and even spreading the virus to the world for two reasons: To “take over the world’ and to “monetize” the vaccine/cure that they have developed. This hardly explains how Israel is currently suffering from a huge spike of new cases of Covid-19. One response from antisemites has been to encourage people to infect Jewish people by coughing on them. As early as last Spring, coining the new word “Holocough” made of the two words “Holocaust” and “cough,” antisemites flooded the social networks with the idea. People might say: “But I am not Jewish, so how does that concern me?”

The Protests/Riots: The tragic death of George Floyd precipitated America into regional protests that quickly became uncontrollable riots like those seen in Portland, Oregon for the last three months. Some people found it interesting to spread the rumor that American police officers were being trained by IDF officers in using methods that include the way George Floyd was chocked to death. The group known as US Campaign for Palestinian Rights came up with that unfounded accusation. Additionally, the DOJ is investigating the possibility of ties between the BLM movement and terrorist organizations. Terminology like “intifada” or “from Minneapolis to Palestine, Racism is a crime” are showing up on street signs, graffiti and social networks. Once again, the Jews and Israel are being blamed for the racial unrest, either directly or indirectly. People might say: “Black lives matter, and I am not Jewish, so how does the other stuff concern me?”

QAnon: The strange attraction that people have for the mysterious group known as QAnon is also leading people to blame the Jews. QAnon is some sort of conspiracy theory from an alt-right ideology. It is supposed to ANONymously expose the international Jewish cabal to destroy Donald Trump and take over the world. The fact that it is based on a hoax from 1904–The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion- that has been debunked over and over, doesn’t seem to stop QAnon adherents. They claim that the Rothschilds are behind the whole agenda of controlling the USA behind the scenes. Sadly, they haven’t been denounced more forcefully by the current administration. People might say: “QAnon is just a conspiracy theory and I am not Jewish, so how does that concern me?”

The easiest scapegoat for humanity has been the Jews for the last 2,000 years. Irrational behavior against the chosen people of God has gone uninterrupted for a very long time. The enemy of God and the Jewish people, Satan himself, is turning the irrational into the rational, acceptable and even the expected. But we do not have to accept the irrational blindly. Rabbi, philosopher and activist Abraham Joshua Heschel who marched with Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights Movement said: “Few are guilty, but all are responsible.” I would like to add to that that we can become guilty because of apathy. Jews and Blacks marching together against racism…Those days are gone!

Antisemitism by omission is still antisemitism. It might be watered down because people do not carry the guilt of being the main players in the longest hatred, but it is still dangerous, nonetheless. We cannot afford to remain silent about any form of injustice, period! For some reason, people will fight for various causes when they can be convinced that their voices and actions count for something. When people don’t feel concerned or in danger for their safety or even just for their comfort, they become apathetic. They feel like it is not their fight. But sitting on the fence of Jew-hatred is not an option. Indifference becomes our guilt.

Everything seems to indicate that the biblical predictions about the world going against Israel and the Jews are coming to fruition in our lifetime and rapidly (Zechariah 12:1-8; Daniel 9:27; Revelation 12.) Soon, we will all answer to a higher authority, and the God of Israel who calls the Jewish people the “Apple of my Eye” will not say to us, “don’t worry, you were not Jewish, so, this didn’t concern you!” While salvation cannot be lost, heavenly rewards can. We have a choice!

“If I were to remain silent, I’d be guilty of complicity.”  Albert Einstein

Is Israel the “One-Size-Fits-All” Response to the Ills of the World?

Early in 2020, everybody was talking about impeachment, and just like that, by March COVID-19 became the sole topic in the News, and again, just like that, at the end of May, the virus took second fiddle to the George Floyd death/race riots. What a year this has been so far! For many people, these events are all related to a plan to stop President Trump from re-election at any cost. While the anti-Trump agenda could very well be a driving force in the current events, my desire is not to get political at this point.

The virus is very real and has tragically taken many lives, and the last thing I want to do is to appear as if I am trying to minimize its devastating effect on us all. As to the protests, they are justified from the standpoint of the frustration and reaction to injustice and the wrongful death of George Floyd. There is no way to look at what happened to him and not declare foul play. I am disgusted by the tragedy that took place against Mr. Floyd and my prayers go to his family. The protests are justified and something must be done in America to solve our racial inequality and police brutality.

A peaceful protest is one thing, but when it turns into violent riots coupled with uncontrolled looting, it affects many people and businesses that have no connections to the issue, and it will ruin them… some for good! we must stand against that. As a matter of fact, standing up against riots and looting as one American people regardless of color or creed might be a great starting point to initiate dialogue and hopefully, reconciliation.

But there is another common denominator to these events that I need to bring to your attention, and that is the fact that they have all been linked one way or another to Israel and/or the Jewish people. The proverbial “Scapegoat of Humanity” can be found as the responsible party–partially or fully– in any of these crises. Even though they might appear as childish, ludicrous and unsustainable theories to most people of goodwill, these are circulating in the news and are being believed by more people than you would expect.

President Trump’s Impeachment: At the apex of the embarrassing impeachment scheme against President Trump, a Christian Pastor–and we should use the term very loosely regarding that particular individual– claimed that the impeachment was a “Jew Coup.” Rick Wiles, who has been known to be a virulent antisemite, was blasting that conspiracy theory from his church pulpit, doing much damage to the real Bible-believing Christians who read their Bible properly and cannot help but love Israel and the Jewish people. Wiles has since been banned from YouTube, but his videos can still be found circulating on the web. Wiles was also described as a Trump supporter and his site had mistakenly and tragically been accredited by the White House. Rick Wiles is a shameful individual who does not represent biblical Christianity and is only helping to further the 2000-year old divide between Christians and Jews. Does he know that the Messiah he claims to believe in, follow and serve was a Jew, as well as all of His disciples and all the writers of the Bible (except for Luke)?

The Corona Virus: Posts have gone viral on the web regarding the fact that the virus was a hoax invented by Jews to profit from it, or worse, that it was created by Jews for profit as well. And then, there are those who call it “The Jew-flu”, claiming that Jews spread it more than anybody else on the planet. This has contributed to a lot of antisemitic hate speech, not that we needed any more of that! Israeli politician and human rights activist Nathan Sharansky said “’They are blaming the Jews [for coronavirus], accusing us of trying to destroy the economy in order to make money.’…In Iran, the state-controlled media is blaming “Zionists” for the epidemic and warning people not to use a coronavirus vaccine if it is developed by Israeli scientists.” The Website NGO Monitor, keeping NGOs accountable, listed a myriad of NGOs that posted antisemitic tropes linking Israel, global Jews and COVID-19. Unbelievably, 20% of Britons believe that Jews are behind COVID-19. They obviously completely ignore the massive numbers of deaths in various Jewish communities because of the virus, especially in orthodox/Hasidic circles. They also ignore the fact that these very same Jewish communities that were hit very hard are now turning around to donate plasma.

The George Floyd Death: While there is no way on earth that the death of Mr. Floyd could be seen as accidental, there is still a way for antisemites to profit from it and link it to their anti-Israel agenda. It didn’t take very long for BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) proponents to compare the method used by the police officer who murdered George Floyd to the methods used by the IDF on Palestinians. In reality, neither American cops nor the Israeli Defense Force use these methods.  Simon Wiesenthal Center Director, Abraham Cooper remarked very wisely, “We Jews know all about antisemites connecting non-existent dots to denigrate our people.” Additionally, rioters chose to vandalize a synagogue with graffiti saying, “F*** Israel, Free Palestine!” What does the death of George Floyd have to do with the Jewish people? Nothing at all, but don’t let that fact stop the irrational hatred against my people! And then there are those who literally say that “The police violence happening tonight in Minneapolis is straight out of the IDF playbook,” claiming with zero evidence that US police officers train in Israel.

This Israel “One-Size-Fits-All” response to the ills of the world is dƒespicable. It continues to plague our Jewish people wherever they live. It is groundless and yet it feeds into the agenda of Jew-haters. I am not saying that there were no Jewish people supporting the impeachment proceedings. I am not saying that not one Jewish person profited from some business opportunity created by the pandemic, and I am not saying that Jewish people are always accused of ills they are not responsible for. What I am saying is that mankind can be found responsible for many things hurtful and destructive, but it is because as a human race we have rebelled against God and taken matters in our own hands. It is not because we are black, Jewish, white, or whatever else!

Like the Amalekites of old, the Pharaoh who enslaved our people, Haman who schemed to destroy all Jews and all the other people who made it their personal struggle to hurt Israel and the Jewish people, our enemies are influenced by a false narrative that Jews are evil, blood-sucking creatures hell-bent on taking over the world. This comes straight from Satan’s playbook, and that playbook IS the “One-Size-Fits-All” for all the ills of the world. It is time to give credit to whom credit is due!

We Are Handling Three Viruses, Not Just One!

The whole planet is in total panic mode over the Coronavirus pandemic. Countries and states are struggling to mitigate and are working around the clock to develop a vaccine. We will eventually flatten the curve and manufacture a vaccine, bringing us back to normal, whatever the new normal is going to be, not to mention what it will do to our global economy. In the meantime, we are practicing social distancing, wearing masks and gloves when getting groceries and disinfecting just about anything coming into contact with our persons or homes. This is not the first virus plaguing humanity and it won’t be the last.

This being said, there are still quite a few inconsistencies with this pandemic, one of them being the sudden drop to almost no cases and no death in China (home to 1.4 billion people) for the last three weeks. There are also some very troubling reports about hot zones and hospitals being empty and deserted as opposed to being at full capacity. It is hard to know who to believe anymore, but the virus is real, lethal and very contagious…that we can all agree on. That’s the first virus!

Viruses infect people. They alter the normalcy of daily life and force people into making drastic changes to protect themselves until they find a cure if they find one. It can be argued that antisemitism is the longest-running virus in the history of mankind. It was started by Satan who chose to fight God by fighting and seeking to destroy the ones He [God] loved. The great enemy of God still wants to destroy the chosen people of God (Zechariah 2:8) but God promised otherwise (Jeremiah 31:35-37.) Nevertheless, he continues to infect the hearts and minds of men in ways that drive them virulently against Israel and the Jewish people.

The latest example being Rick Wiles, who recently claimed that the Coronavirus was killing Jews because they rejected Jesus. This man who claims to be a Christian pastor does not represent biblical Christianity and will have to account to the God of Israel for hating His people. This is wrong on so many levels! First, when Yeshua (Jesus) came, He was rejected by both Jews and Gentiles who happened to equally be falling short of God’s glory. He actually gave his own life for Jews and Gentiles (John 10:18.) Additionally, saying that the Jews are being punished is ignoring all the other people around the world, representing many other religions including Christians, who are also getting infected and dying from COVID-19.

The sad part about the virus of antisemitism is that we as a civilization have had a cure for it since its inception. Those who continue to spread that virus are willfully ignoring the existence of the cure because they want the virus to infect as many Jews as it can, and recently it has started to peak again. We are far from flattening the curve of antisemitism, and yet we could do it, through teaching biblical truth about Israel and the Jewish people and by promoting love and compassion instead of hatred.

Those who don’t see the Jews as being punished by COVID-19, might see them as being behind it. They see a conspiracy theory. This is nothing new. We were and continue to be accused of world takeover in a pamphlet published in the early 1900s and quickly uncovered as a hoax, known as The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion. Additionally, we were also accused of being behind the black plague of the Middle Ages, simply because far less Jewish people died than the rest of the world. That’s the second virus, more pervasive than the first!

But even before the virus of antisemitism was born, mankind was under the curse of a spiritual virus for which there is also a cure. This virus goes back to the Fall of man in Genesis 3. As we pressed forward, we, as a race continued to be born in sin and live in sin. To be sure, sin is not just breaking one of the Ten Commandments, but it is falling short of obeying God’s commands who by the way, gave 613 commandments to the Jewish people, not just ten. As a result, we are all infected by this spiritual virus and it always leads to death, as in “separation from God for all eternity in a state of perpetual torment.”

Yet, for this one, there is also a cure and it is received freely as a gift from God who gave His only son to take away the sins of the world (John 3:16). That is the third virus and it is the most lethal because it is not transmitted by body fluids, by contact or even airborne. It is carried in our DNA, and only God can alter our DNA through the atoning blood of His ultimate Passover lamb (Isaiah 52:13-53-12.)

Humanity through science, creativity, and resilience will conquer and survive the first virus, we can also conquer the second one through education and activism. As to the third, the most lethal one, it is actually the easiest one to cure, because all we need to do is believe that Yeshua is the Messiah of Israel and the Savior of the world who gave His own life as the ultimate cure for this spiritual virus.

We will survive COVID-19, we can survive antisemitism, but will you survive the spiritual virus of the Fall of man? I pray that you do!

When Israel Finds a Cure for the Covid-19, How will BDS Respond?

By now, there are very few countries in the world that have not heard about the coronavirus. As of this writing, 149 countries have been affected and infected. The global number of cases exceeds 150,000 and deaths are over 5,600. Italy is on lockdown. France not far behind and America restricted flight from Europe, as well as just declared a national emergency. I have never experienced anything like this in my sixty years on this planet. Countries are reacting differently to the crisis, although more and more are realizing the potential gravity of the unknown and are setting up emergency facilities and personnel. For all of us, this is unchartered territory!

At the same time, several countries in the world are racing against the clock to research, discover, test and manufacture a vaccine for Covid-19. At the forefront of these modern countries is Israel. The tiny Jewish state could be weeks or even just days from having a vaccine to treat Covid-19. A Canadian company also claims to have developed a vaccine. But developing one is not an easy task and once the vaccine is proven to work it must be tested. depending on the source, the length of the testing for this upcoming vaccine could be anywhere from 90 days to 18 months. Even 90 days could be a long time when we are seeing the exponential growth of the infection on a global scale, but doing nothing just because the potential deadline for a commercially viable vaccine could be months away, is irresponsible. So the race is on!

The likelihood of Israel finding the cure is pretty high. The Israel Institute for Biological Research is optimistic. As a matter of fact, Prime minister Netanyahu had given the institute the directives for such research as early as February 1, 2020. In the meantime, Israel has closed its borders and is requiring anybody stepping foot on Israeli soil to go into a 14-day quarantine, no exceptions. Drastic? I don’t think so, but time will tell. Additionally, the Israeli government is also recruiting IDF soldiers and teenagers to help sanitize public places. Israel is a small country with too many enemies. To Israel, securing borders is an existential necessity. Succumbing to the Coronavirus or being unprepared, could open the door for Israel’s enemies to attack several fronts at a time when hospitals are already beyond full capacity and the country crippled by the virus’ effect on the economy. Israel had no choice but to close its borders. Additionally, Israel has also developed a test kit that yields results in 25 minutes and will make it available worldwide within days.

The virus is not antisemitic nor is it anti-Palestinian, it doesn’t discriminate and it doesn’t stop at borders or checkpoints. That is why Israel is doing all they can to help those affected in Gaza and the West Bank, no questions asked. Why? Because Israel values life, any life…even the life of her enemies. Even though they probably cannot spare any of them right now, Israel donated several hundred Covid-19 test kits to the Palestinian Authority, and there will be more coming. They also delivered 20 tons of disinfectant to the Palestinian Authority to help them sanitize their area. Would the opposite have happened if Israel was in need? Sadly, I doubt it!

And then, there are the usual BDS movement people across the globe, selling the false idea that Israel is an occupying, colonialist and human rights violating country. They convince a plethora of uneducated people to boycott Israel. Evidently, they boycott whatever is not going to be too inconvenient. So here is the million-dollar question: “Are BDS people going to refuse the vaccine if it comes from Israel?” They should if they were consistent and ethical, but we all know that they won’t.

If BDS accepts the vaccine, they lose their right to oppose Israel on anything else, as long as it is based on a false premise. They should be grateful that the very country they are trying to see off the map of the Middle East is actually ethical and compassionate enough to see beyond all this and concentrate on the sanctity of life. God wouldn’t have it any other way!

As we fight the Coronavirus together, there is no time for disagreement between Democrats and Republicans or Israelis and Arabs. The virus is after all of us without discrimination and if we wish to eradicate Covid-19, we have no choice but to fight it together as humans. Incidentally, now is a very good time to believe in God and to trust Him, since nothing, not even the damaging Coronavirus, comes as a surprise to Him!
