As I teach a weekly class on antisemitism, I am forced to study and research all the evil done to my Jewish people. At times it is almost unbearable, but somebody must teach on this topic. So, it is with great pleasure and encouragement that I read about Muslims saving Jews during the Holocaust.
There is an on going exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Tolerance title: BESA: Albanian Muslims who saved Jews during the Holocaust. It is a breath of fresh air in a day and age when the whole world and in particular Islam is turning against Israel and the Jewish People.
I encourage all of you to attend and give it your support. (flyer here)
In the process of recognizing where the friends of Israel were and where they might be found today, we are still called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us.
Matt. 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.
This especially in light of today May 5 being the national Day of Prayer.
Great article O…..should be a great exhibit – LS
Albania was non-existent after the Italians invaded in 1939 and the Italians would not turn the Jews over to the Nazi wherever they were in control, by the time Italy changed sides and the Germans took over northern Italy they did not have troops to send to Albania. If anyone saved the Jews of Albania it was the Italians. Bosnian Muslims provided Hitler two SS Divisions. If some Muslims were sympathetic to Jews it was not an non-existent government.
